One Arrested on Drugs, Motor Vehicle Charges Following North Haven Single Car Crash


A 35-year-old man is under arrest in North Haven after he crashed his car into a guardrail on Route 22 on Wednesday, June 21.

According to North Haven Police, Steven Rivera crashed his car into the guardrail near the exit 11 ramp on Route 22 shortly before noon on June 21. When officers arrived on scene, they noticed Rivera, the operator and sole occupant of the car, reach into the vehicle and attempt to walk away. Officers asked him to stop but he refused and continued to walk away from the officers while clenching both fists.  

As officers approached him, Rivera began to fight them, and he tried to throw several small items. An investigation revealed Rivera was attempting to dispose of five bags of crack cocaine and a small amount of PCP.

Rivera was arrested and charged with possession of a hallucinogen, possession of narcotics, interfering with an officer, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to drive in the proper lane.
