Jacob Brown Named as April Youth of the Month

The Exchange Club of Madison recently honored Jacob Brown, the son of Loreen and Roy Brown, with the David Bell Scholarship Award as its April 2017 Youth of the Month. The Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) senior was nominated by the DHHS faculty and completed a competitive application, including an essay titled “Inspiring a Community to Become a Better Place,” performing outstanding DHHS and community activities, earning an excellent grade point average, and demonstrating personal achievements and earning awards.

The Exchange Club of Madison Program Chairman of Youth of the Month and Year Program, David Bell, presented Jacob Brown with a $200 award and a commemorative plaque. Brown is an honors student, member of the National Honor Society, SAFE RIDES, Peer Advocates (one year), captain of the soccer team (All-Conference, Best Offensive Player 2015), and indoor track team. Additionally, Brown played on the volleyball team in 2016 and was a member of the Diversity Club, Life Group, Uganda Club, The Club for Cancer, and the DHHS Marching and Concert Bands,

In addition to in-school activities, Brown participated in a number of activities outside school, including the soup kitchen and Boy Scouts, and founded the Village Mission to the Dominican Republic. Brown has received the Helping Hand and PT0 Awards, and will continue his education in college next year at Charleston University in South Carolina.
