Local Students Awarded at Westbrook Library

On April 22, Good Citizen Awards and American History/Christopher Columbus Essay Winner Awards were presented by the Sgt. David Thompson Society, Children of the American Revolution, and The Jordan Freeman Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, both based in Old Saybrook, at the Westbrook Library. Eligible students from various local schools in grades 5 to 8 participate in the American History Essay, and grades 9 to 12 participate in the Christopher Columbus Essay. Good Citizen winners included Adara Bochanis of Westbrook, Kate Driscoll of Clinton, and McKayd LaRose of Guilford. American History essay winners included Hadley Reiss of Madison, Chloe Smith of Madison, Sara Inglesias of Guilford, Riley Mullett of Guilford, and Camden Clark of Westbrook. The Christopher Columbus essay winner was Isabelle Paris of Guilford. The winners received DAR certificates for participation and a Barnes & Noble gift card. They also received a John Adams gold dollar piece from George W. Baker of New Canaan, who portrayed John Adams for the ceremonial program “A Lively and Revolutionary Conversation with America’s Second President.”
