Alyssa Mastromonaco, who previously served as White House deputy chief of staff for operations in the Obama administration, visited North Haven High School for a discussion and book signing organized by the North Haven Democratic Town Committee.

Mastromonaco was the youngest female deputy chief of staff, and recently released a book called Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?

Amanda Gabriele, a member of the committee who arranged to have Mastromonaco in town, said she got in touch with Mastromonaco through the publisher of the book.

Gabriele said she wanted to have Mastromonaco come in to not only share humorous anecdotes from her book, but also to hear about her leadership and position of power as a woman, and how she used that power for good causes.

During the discussion, Mastromonaco shared stories about her time working in the White House, saying it was chaotic, but a controlled chaos.

She shared other stories, such as getting calls from the situation room in the middle of the night, and ended the event by signing copies of her book and taking pictures with attendees.
