Locals Graduate from University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy

On May 6, the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy held its graduation for its doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) graduates. Among the 102 graduates of the six-year program were four Killingworth/Higganum residents.

Austin Ferrara of Killingworth is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society and the recipient of the Merck Award for Academic Performance. She has been accepted as the 2017-’19 postdoctoral associate in the Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship Program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University and will be working at Novartis Pharmaceuticals in East Hanover, New Jersey in a regulatory affairs oncology group.

Jason Funaro of Killingworth is a third-generation graduate of UConn School of Pharmacy and is a member of the Rho Chi Honor Society, as well as an Urban Service Track Scholar. Funaro is headed to Duke University Hospital to complete a pharmacy practice residency with plans to specialize during his second year.

Albert Zichichi of Killingworth is pursuing a general pharmacy residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with the intent to specialize in critical care.

Elliott Bosco of Higganum is a member of Phi Lambda Sigma, the Rho Chi Honor Society, and was the recipient of the School of Pharmacy Patient Care Award. Bosco is pursuing a PhD in health services research at Brown University where he will focus primarily in pharmacoepidemiology and comparative effectiveness research.
