06/08/2017 12:01 AMAnthony Slate of Troop 474 and a senior at Guilford High School has earned the rank of eagle scout. Slate is active in scouting through Troop 474 and Owaneco Lodge 313 as well as volunteering with Guilford DAY, Guilford Mentoring, and as a videographer for GHS Boys Hockey. For his eagle project, he built a 24-foot bridge at the Rockland Preserve in Killingworth. There was a portion of a trail that was not accessible when it rained so he decided to build a bridge for bike and pedestrian traffic. He plans to attend Southern Connecticut State University and major in nursing.
