Memorial Day Weather Plans


Rain forecast for the area has led several towns to cancel parades and/or reschedule the following Monday, May 29 ceremonies.

The outdoor portion of Clinton’s Memorial Day ceremonies are canceled. There will be an indoor ceremony held in the auditorium of the Town Hall at 11 a.m. All are welcome.

The Deep River parade has been canceled due to rain. However, the planned ceremony on Veteran’s Green will still go on at 9 a.m.

In East Haven, the scheduled parade is canceled and Memorial Day ceremonies will begin in the East Haven American Legion Post 89 at 574 Thompson Avenue at 11:30 a.m. Participants are asked to arrive by 11:25 a.m. There will be remarks from Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., and other dignitaries and the Town will recognize this year’s “Honored Vet”, East Haven resident, Joseph Maturo, Sr.

The Essex Memorial Day Parade has been canceled due to the weather. Ceremonies will be held at Essex Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. and at the Essex Veteran’s Memorial Hall at 11 a.m.

The Killingworth Memorial Day Parade is canceled. Services will be held at the Congregational Church at 9:30 a.m.

Madison’s parade is canceled. Memorial Day ceremonies will be held promptly at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall.

The Town of Old Saybrook Memorial Day Parade has been canceled. The dockside ceremony at Vicky Duffy Pavilion (Saybrook Point) will be held at 9 a.m. There will be a 10 a.m. Memorial Day ceremony at Old Saybrook Fire House (308 Main Street) with music by the Old Saybrook High School Band.

The Westbrook Memorial Day Parade on the Town Green is set for 10 a.m., rain or shine.
