Quinnipiac University Students Give Big Assist to BLT Bog Walk

Coordinators of the Quinnipiac University (QU) Big Event 2017 came to the aid of the Branford Land Trust (BLT). Organizer History Professor Michael Chiarappa and 45 QU student volunteers joined more than a dozen BLT members on April 8 for a morning of hard work hand-carrying lumber for a new bog walk trail at the Red Hill Woods preserve. In total, the volunteers moved approximately 200 hemlock boards milled in Branford by Henry W. Zuwalick & Sons, Inc. and 300 locally sourced cedar logs. The day was a success, leaving only the assembly of the Branford Inland Wetlands Commission-approved walk for the BLT Trail Committee to complete this spring.
