04/06/2017 12:01 AMFormer East Haven “first lady” Marie Messina received a Mayoral Proclamation from Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr., in honor of her 100th birthday, which was celebrated recently at Branford Hills Health Care Center. Messina is the wife of former East Haven mayor Frank Messina, who served in that capacity from 1967 to 1975. For many years, Marie Messina served with the East Haven Historical Society, Chamber of Commerce, Merit Award Committee, and Rotary Club, in addition to being the honorary treasurer for the Town of East Haven.
