An unpleasant sight now greets Guilford Free Library visitors. Graffiti in the shape of a pig with the word “Fascist” appeared on the library wall over the weekend and officials are trying to find the culprit.

The graffiti, drawn with blue paint and a stencil, is located on the rear wall of the building facing the parking lot. Library Director Sandy Ruoff said the library was alerted to the graffiti on March 27.

“We called the police immediately when we discovered it and we had surveillance tapes so we turned those over to the police,” she said. “By tomorrow (Wednesday, March 29) we will have it covered up – we just needed to figure out the best way to do it.”

Ruoff said the police came over right away and filed a full report. She said she doesn’t know why this happened but it is the first time such an incident occurred at the library.

“We have had minor graffiti from time to time in the public bathrooms but I think this is the first time we have had it on the outside of the building,” she said.
