03/23/2017 12:01 AMValley Regional High School student Zane Bouregy has qualified to attend the National American Legion Oratory Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana from April 21 to 23. The qualifying state competition was held at Goodwin College in East Hartford on March 4. Zane placed first among six districts that sent competitors. Fifty national contestants will earn $1,500 for each round they are able to win in Indianapolis. First place wins $18,000, second place wins $16,000, and third place wins $14,000. This is the third time Valley Regional High School has sent an American Legion winner to the national competition.
