State Representative Noreen Kokoruda (R-101) and State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr. (D-12) joined Madison Special Education Services Director Dr. Elizabeth M. Battaglia and Madison Superintendent of Schools Thomas Scarice on March 16 at the Capitol in Hartford as they testified during the legislature’s Education Committee public hearing in opposition to Raised House Bill 7255, An Act Establishing a Task Force to Conduct a Feasibility Study Regarding the Creation of a Special Education Predictable Cost Cooperative.

Madison school officials indicated that the proposal as is it currently written falls short, and indicated that the composition of such a task force needs to be revisited. Kokoruda and Kennedy discussed their continuing efforts to provide the much-needed support that special education students need to thrive and thanked both Battaglia and Scarice for taking the time out of their busy day to testify at the Capitol.
