East Haven Lions Club Receives National Award

Fran Burton received the Silver Centennial Award from Lions Clubs International on behalf of the East Haven Lions Club. This award is given for promoting membership in the Lions Clubs and fostering its humanitarian ideals. The East Haven Lions Club raises money to distribute for community benefits, state and national charities, and support for the visually impaired. East Haven Lions’ recent contributions include $500 to the East Haven Academy for sheet music and other necessities for the music program; $350 to Ferrara School for students who need musical instruments; $300 to the Food Pantry for Thanksgiving pies; and $250 to the Speech and Hearing Program towards a hearing aid for a local resident.

The East Haven Lions Club has open membership and meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Twin Pines Diner, 34 Main Street, East Haven. For more information, call Corrine at 203-467-4050.
