Beatrices Celebrate 65 Years of Marriage

Vernon and Mary (Knauer) Beatrice recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary and renewed their vows, officiated by Reverend Shariya Molegoda of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Madison. They were married on Dec. 22, 1951 at Bishop Seabury Episcopal Church in Groton. They met at a teenage dance while in high school. Mr. Beatrice served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After which he worked for Southern New England Telephone Company, retiring in 1990 as an engineering manager. Mrs. Beatrice was an employment office receptionist for Electric Boat until their first daughter was born. In later years, she was an Avon representative for 25 years. For many years they were avid campers. They have four daughters, Nadine (James) Wilson, Cecilia (Mark) Hamrick, Sharon Beatrice, and Michelle (John) Schiess. They also have six grandchildren (Tabitha, Olivia, Jason, Evan, Kaitlyn, and Kyle), three great-grandchildren (Mackenzie, Kaia, and Natalie), four step-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.
