Clinton Police Arrest Drunk Man for Breaking into Homes, Stealing Alcohol

A Clinton man is under arrest after police received reports of multiple burglaries early Sunday morning.

According to Police, a Brush Hill Road resident called police at 12:38 a.m. and said she had just been awoken by an unknown male intruder inside of her home. The caller confronted the intruder and he fled the home prior to police arriving on the scene.

Police canvassed the area with the assistance of the Guilford Police K9 unit and tracked the suspect from Brush Hill Road to an adjacent neighborhood located on Carriage Drive.

Clinton Police received a second 911 call at 1:45 a.m. from a resident of Carriage Drive. The caller stated that someone was currently inside hi home, in his basement/garage. Officers that were already in the area arrived within seconds of the call and located the suspect as he was exiting the home via a broken garage door window. The suspect was carrying a large capacity bag which contained several bottles of alcohol that he was attempting to steal from the residence.

Officers confronted the suspect and took him into custody without incident. Police identified the suspect as Samuel Schultz, 23, of Brush Hill Road, Clinton. Schultz was determined to be highly intoxicated at the time, and police determined that Schultz was responsible for the burglaries on Brush Hill Road and Carriage Drive. He was charged with two counts of burglary in the first degree, two counts of disoderly conduct, criminal mischief in the third degree, and larceny in the sixth degree. He was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Middletown GA 9 on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
