Gazdas Earn Eagle Scout Rank for Bauer Park Work

Patrick Michael Gazda and Benjamin William Gazda celebrated making the rank of Eagle Scout at their joint Court of Honor held on July 23 at the Guilford Fire Department Headquarters.

Pat and Ben belong to Troop 474, which meets at the First Congregational Church on the Green. Both brothers conducted Eagle Scout projects at Bauer Park in Madison. Patrick Gazda replaced two trail head signs for the Woodland Trail, both of which had long rotted away. He also had made and installed a Bauer Classroom Building sign to designate the building to those who take the outdoor educational programs offered at the park. Benjamin Gazda installed five wood duck nesting boxes on the property in the hopes of attracting wood ducks, as their natural nesting sites in tree cavities are getting harder to find and are easily visited by predators. Both Gazdas also did some work to enhance the community garden area of the park.
