August 31, 2016: North Branford High School (NBHS) English teacher Chelsea Dodds won a grant to attend Jackson Hole Writers Conference in Wyoming in June.

Dodds applied for an educational grant at the onset of the 2015-16 school year via the Fund for Teachers Organization. The fund provides grants for teachers for professional development opportunities during the summer months.

Dodds was awarded a grant to attend a writing conference this past June, the Jackson Hole Writers Conference in Wyoming.   The three-day conference included workshops focusing upon creative writing, fiction and non-fiction, poetry, and strategies to incorporate peer review and revision within the classroom.

Dodds believes the insights obtained through this experience will surely enhance the experience for her students, increase the rigor, and provide her with the opportunity to provide students with insights to the publishing industry.

The NBHS administration is looking forward to Dodd sharing her newly developed expertise with her colleagues and students.
