Taste the Shoreline Returns to Guilford Green

For anyone looking to try out new dining experiences, sampling a variety of shoreline eateries is about to get a lot easier. The 26th annual Taste the Shoreline is returning to the Guilford Green Sunday, Aug. 21 from noon to 5 p.m. and promises a variety of local food vendors and entertainment.

Hosted by the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature up to 15 food vendors, a variety of craft and business exhibitors, and live entertainment. Food vendors on board for this year include Bishop’s Orchard Farm Market and Winery, D’Vine Bistro, The Guilford Mooring, La Cucina, The Marketplace at Guilford Food Center, and many more.

In addition to the vendors, the event will include a farmer’s market from 1 to 4 p.m. presented by the Branford Alps Farmers Market.

There is no cost to enter the event and food will be priced from $1 to $5, according to the Chamber’s Anna Munafo, who said sampling all of the food is the highlight of the day.

“We will we have the local chefs of the Marketplace doing cooking demonstrations every hour,” she said. “We are very fortunate this year that Jason Iglesias and Andrea Dante of the Marketplace at Guilford Food Center are very involved in this event and they are transforming this into a true ‘foodie’ event.”

The day will also feature a variety of entertainers including performers on stage from local dance schools, characters in costumes from Ellie’s Entertainment, face painting, and a business expo.

“John “Cadillac” Saville, the afternoon radio personality at Country 92.5, will be DJing between noon and 4:30 p.m.,” she said. “We will have dancers performing onstage throughout the event. Lastly, Guilford Parks & Recreation is presenting the [band] Magic of Motown at 6:30 p.m.”

Munafo said the event takes months to plan and the chamber is expecting up to 2,000 attendees throughout the day and possibly 1,000 more to attend the free concert in the evening.

For now, all of the vendor slots are full but Munafo said the chamber is still accepting craft and businesses exhibitors. Those interested in exhibiting should contact Anna Munafo at anna@shorelinechamberct.com.
