NB's Memorial Courts Open for Play

After some three months spend removing, resurfacing, repainting and re-striping; North Branford's Memorial Park tennis and basketball courts opened for play last week.

The courts, which have always been lighted, include five tennis courts and two basketball courts. All courts are located at Memorial Park on property abutting North Branford Intermediate School on Foxon Road.

Construction began in April to completely replace Memorial Park's popular lighted tennis courts with a new type of surface that better resists the cracks which covered the old surfaces. The project included complete reconstruction of the tennis courts, basketball courts, new fencing and new court coloring. The blue and green courts replace the old red and green versions.

The majority of the cost of the $370,000 project was covered by a Small Town Economic Assistance Program grant. The project was completed on schedule.
