Investigation Continues into Deadly NB Crash

Investigation into the cause of this morning's crash in North Branford which killed both drivers is continuing, said North Branford Police Department (NBPD).The victims were a 51 year-old North Branford resident and a 67 year-old Killingworth resident.

NBPD issued the following statement this afternoon: On 7/18/16 at 5:16 a.m. the North Branford Police Department and North Branford Fire Department responded to 630 Foxon Road on report of at two car motor vehicle accident with injuries. Upon their arrival officers located two unconscious drivers with severe injuries.

The drivers were identified as John Fragola, 67, of Killingworth CT and Mario Simmons, 51, of North Branford.

NBFD personnel extricated both drivers from their vehicles and provided medical attention as well as extinguished a small vehicle fire. Mario Simmons and John Fragola ultimately succumbed to their injuries.

The South Central Regional Traffic Unit responded to the scene to investigate. Any person who witnessed this accident or has information which can assist investigators can contact North Branford Police Department at (203) 484-2703.

Route 80 (Foxon Road) was closed for several hours but has since re-opened. Details as to causation are pending.
