Connecticut River Museum Holds Shad Bake 2016

On June 4, the Rotary Club of Essex held its annual Essex Shad Bake at the Connecticut River Museum. For 59 years, the Rotarians have kept this traditional culinary event alive and well. Hundreds of visitors came to the museum to eat roasted shad and learn about the history of this once crucial fishery through talks, displays, and demonstrations.
