With song, words of tribute and rainbow lights shining from the steps of Town Hall and the town library, members of the Branford community came together last night in solidarity and support of the victims of last week's 49 shooting deaths at Pulse, an Orlando FL nightclub.

Organizer Colin Sheehan encouraged those in the crowd to share their photos of Branford's show of support with the social media world, by posting from the night's event with the tag #Branford4Orlando.

Led by music director Cathyann Roding, members of Branford High School concert choir and alumni sang from the steps of Town Hall, which was lit at dark with rainbow lights. Rainbow lights also illuminated the iconic Blackstone Memorial Library. Both Town Hall and the Blackstone will continue to be lit with rainbow lights for a week, and a display of small rainbow flags dotting Main Street's lantern flower planters, tended by Branford Garden Club, will also be in place for a week.

The event was supported by speakers including First Selectman James B. Cosgrove and Branford-Guilford State Representative Sean Scanlon (D, District 98) and Branford State Representative Lonnie Reed (D, District 102).

As previously reported, local sponsors also helped to support #Branford4Orlando; learn more in a press release from Sheehan here
