Carrot Patch in Clinton is a new, year-round, nature-based early learning center serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and offering before/after school care for Joel School students.

Carrot Patch first started in 2005; the Clinton location follows learning centers in Hamden and Cheshire and is co-owned by Nicole Stevens and Suzanne Miller.

The Carrot Patch follows a project-based approach, exploring concepts in a holistic way. The curriculum centers largely around nature and the environment. All staff hold a B.A. or M.A. in education or child development.

“Children learn to approach the world as young scientists. They practice formulating questions, then on to identifying resources—from their five senses, to books, to asking experts. Students discover they can take the lead in exploring their world!” said Miller.
