That's a Lot of Dough: Frisco's Pizza Gives $2500 to Cosgrove Shelter

John Frisco of Frisco's Pizza in New Haven (center) was recently recognized by members of Branford/North Branford Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter for generously donating $2,500 -- 100 percent of profits from a day's worth of pizza sales -- to help the no-kill municipal shelter in its mission to assist and re-home animals in need. There's a pizza man in New Haven with a soft spot in his heart for helping animals.

By committing 100 percent of proceeds from all pizza pies sold during eight straight hours on Sun. Nov. 15, 2015; John Frisco of Frisco's Pizza raised $2,500 to donate to the Branford/North Branford Cosgrove Animal Shelter.

"He donated a whole days' worth of proceeds to our shelter. We ended up raising $2,500 and we gave John an award for recognition of his amazing gesture," said Laura Burban, Cosgrove Shelter Director.

Statewide, the Cosgrove Animal Shelter is a model for municipal facilities. Thanks to community support and fundraising efforts, the shelter's no-kill policy extends to addressing medical needs and even surgical procedures to ensure compassionate sheltering for animals on their way to adoption. Fundraisers like Frisco's help the shelter stretch its municipal budget to go above and beyond in its mission.

Burban and members of the Cosgrove Animal Shelter Commission were on hand to help Frisco's Pizza serve up dozens of classic New Haven-style apizzas on Nov. 15. Burban recently returned to business, located at 383 Forbes Avenue in New Haven, to present Frisco with a commemorative plaque inscribed with thanks for his generous support, as recognized with the inscribed signatures of Branford First Selectman James B. Cosgrove, Shelter Commission Chairperson Marilyn Vailette, and Burban.

Frisco's next effort on behalf of animals in need will be a March 13, 2016 fundraiser at the resturant, selling pies to raise money for non-profit "Where The Love Is" animal rescue of Hamden.
