Botany Students Awarded Creativity Grant at NHHS

North Haven High School students Corrine Myjak and John Gildart designed an irrigation system for the school’s greenhouse.

The North Haven Education Foundation, Inc. (NHEF) recently received word from North Haven High School biology teacher Valarie Fortney that two of her students in her independent botany study have designed an irrigation system for the high school’s greenhouse with her assistance.

According to the educator, the students, John Gildart and Corrine Myjak, designed an irrigation system that “will allow for long term cultivation of mature plants to serve as specimens for student study and to allow for the irrigation of the students’ plants to survive during periods of extended absence.”

Approved by the NHEF Board of Directors in early December, the entire request for the $305 Creativity Grant was provided for the venture.
