Andrew Errato of Madison Receives Award from Quinnipiac University

Quinnipiac University honored seven alumni, including Andy Errato of Madison, on Oct. 24 at the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Awards ceremony. Errato, senior member at Bailey Murphy & Scarano in Branford, received the award for exemplifying the mission and goals of the Quinnipiac Alumni Association and for displaying outstanding leadership and achievement in his profession and career.

In addition to his client responsibilities at the accounting firm, Errato plays an integral role in firm management and staff development.

Errato started his accounting career with Arthur Young & Co. in Stamford and then joined Bailey, Moore, Glazer, Schaefer & Proto of Woodbridge in 1972, becoming a partner in 1980. In 1992, he became a founding member of Bailey Schaefer & Errato, where he directed the firm’s business valuation division and served as a managing member from 2004 to 2009.

An active member of the community, Errato serves as president of the Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is also a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) and serves on Quinnipiac’s TKE Scholarship Committee. He is an adjunct professor of accounting at the University of New Haven and is co-chair of Operation American Soldier, which sends supplies to soldiers in Afghanistan.

Errato is an active member of the Madison Knights of Columbus, an adviser to the Yale University Entrepreneurial Institute, chairman of the senior management committee for the University of New Haven Center for Family Business and a member of the finance committee at St. Margaret Church.

As an accountant, Errato is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Business Valuation Research Institute.

Errato earned an associate’s degree in 1967 and his bachelor’s in accounting in 1969, both from Quinnipiac. He also earned his master’s degree in taxation from the University of New Haven.

The ceremony, which took place on Quinnipiac’s Lender Court, was attended by family and friends of the recipients, fellow alumni, deans, and members of the Quinnipiac community. Brett Amendola ’91, Quinnipiac Alumni Association National Board of Governors vice president, emceed the program and President John L. Lahey presented the awards.
