BRANFORD, CT – The Branford Lions Club recently presented generous checks totaling $1,740 each to the Community Dining Room (CDR) and Branford Food Pantry. The funds were raised during the Lions Club's popular Oktoberfest at the Stony Creek Brewery.

"The event was fun for the community as a whole, but it also provided an important opportunity to support the critical work of the Community Dining Room and the Food Pantry," said Perry Maresca, Branford Lions Club. "This donation reflects our appreciation of the vital contribution these agencies make to our community. Their services are particularly welcomed during the holiday season when many of our neighbors need a little extra help to enjoy a festive meal with family and friends."

Those who attended the Oktoberfest enjoyed a German dinner from Lynn's Deli, Pretzels from Whole G Bakery, fabulous entertainment by Dave Goclowski on his accordion and, of course, freshly brewed Stony Creek beers.

"We can't thank everyone enough for making this event such a success in its inaugural year," added Maresca. "Save the date for next year's Oktoberfest, October 2,2016!"
