Westbrook 2015 Election Results

With no challengers in any of the town’s November municipal races except Board of Education, most candidates on the Westbrook ballots were elected. As a result, the Republicans will continue to hold the majority on the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance.

For the three seats available on the Board of Education, incumbent Republican Lee Bridgewater will be seated with 745 votes, Republican Donald Perreault with 759 votes, and Democrat Mary Ella Luft with 508 votes. Democrat Zachary Hayden (500 votes) will not be seated.

Republican Noel Bishop was automatically re-elected to serve another term as first selectman. Joining him on the Board for another term as selectman is Republican John Hall, III. Taking the Democratic Selectman’s seat is Mary Labbadia. She replaces Democrat Chris Ehlert, who chose not to run again.

Of Westbrook’s 4,157 voters, 1,313 cast their vote in this municipal election.

Republican Jane Butterworth was re-elected town treasurer and Kimberly Bratz as town tax collector. There were no Democratic candidates vying for their slots.

The Board of Finance (BOF) members on the ballot were re-elected since there were no challengers. Rejoining the BOF for another six-year term will be Democrat Gary Gavigan and Republican Paul Connelly.

Returning to the Zoning Board of Appeals will be incumbent Democrat Eve Barakos as the only candidate for the slot on the ballot. Similarly, Democrat Paul Keryc will fill an unexpired term on the Board of Assessment Appeals while incumbent Republican Linda Nolf will fill the full six-year term opening.

Republican Philip Bassett was re-elected to a full six-year term on the Planning Commission and Republican Harry Ruppenicker, Jr., to a six-year term on the Zoning Commission. Neither had any challengers on the ballot.
