Mourners Come from Near and Far for Tally

Three busloads of mourners from State College, Pennsylvania arrived at St. Therese Church this morning to join the family and friends gathered at funeral services for Vitalya “Tally” Sepot, the Penn State sophomore and 2014 Branford High School graduate who died on Sept. 27 in a car accident.

Sepot’s funeral guests overfilled the church, which accommodated the additional mourners by livestreaming the Mass to its adjacent chapel. Her Sept. 29 vigil and Oct. 11 wake also drew hundreds of friends.

According to news.psu.edu, Sepot and other members of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority to which she belonged, together with members of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, were in a vehicle returning to State College from the Philadelphia area on Sept. 27 following a weekend of fundraising in surrounding communities for donations for THON, a student-run nationwide pediatric cancer organization. Sepot was the sole fatality when vehicle swerved off the road.
