09/25/2015 12:59 PMHGTV show "Beachfront Bargain Hunt" has sent a small crew to film in Branford for a weekend of taping beginning Fri., Sept. 25, the First Selectman's office confirmed today for Zip06.
The show follows a family on the hunt to locate a budget-friendly beachfront dream home. The small HGTV crew will be shooting on location at undisclosed properties and around town beginning Friday afternoon and continuing over the weekend. HGTV is working with a local real estate agent to coordinate filming at properties for sale. The scope of the filming doesn't require a permit or other licensing from the town.
The Branford episode will air on a future date. Beachfront Bargain Hunt airs on HGTV Sundays at 8 p.m. and draws about 1.5 million viewers. For some 10 seasons, it's featured savvy beachfront buyers on the hunt in locations across the country and abroad.
This isn't the first time some Branford real estate has made it to national television. In 2014, A&E network filmed episodes of a reality show, "Love Prison" on Belden Island in the Thimbles Islands. At the time, the island was up for sale with a price tag of approximately $4 million.
