The Saturday, Oct. 31 runs will start at Hammonasset Beach and use the Shoreline Greenway Trail, Route One, and other roads to run along the water in Madison for several miles, said Madison Rotary Club President Robert Anderson.

The idea for the run started when JB Sports Event Management principal John Bysiewicz approached the club with the proposal. With Rotary input, the concept took off.

“The Madison Rotary Club and my company are working to create an event the entire community can be proud of,” said Bysiewicz, event coordinator at JB Sports Event Management.

So far, runners have also responded well to the new race.

“With over 200 runners already entered, we are pleased at the running community’s support of the race,” said Bysiewicz.
