Funeral Service, Wake Details Announced for Eileen Daily


Former State Senator Eileen Daily

Calling hours and funeral service details have been announced for former state senator Eileen Daily. Daily passed away on Wednesday, July 29, following a battle with cancer. She was 72 years old.

Calling hours are on Sunday, Aug. 2 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Swans Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A funeral service is planned for Monday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Roman Catholic Church, 222 McVeagh Road, Westbrook.

Daily represented the 33rd District towns of Chester, Clinton, Colchester, Deep River, East Haddam, East Hampton, Essex, Haddam, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Portland, and Westbrok in the State Senate from 1993 to 2013.

"Senator Eileen Daily has committed her entire life to being a public servant," said Westbrook First Selectman Noel Bishop in a written statement. "She has served with distinction as a Westbrook resident in many different capacities including First Selectman.

"Her legislative achievements benefited all of the municipalities she represented," Bishop continued. "As Chair of the Bond Commission, she was instrumental in Westbrook securing the much needed funds to dredge the Patchogue River which restored the marine industry."
