Committee Reviews Final Blight Rules

Controlling blight in a way that matches Westbrook's needs has been the goal of the town's Ad Hoc Blight Committee. And after meeting together for six months, reviewing other Towns' blight ordinances, and discussing various options, the group has developed a model ordinance for the Board of Selectmen to consider for adoption.

Tonight the Blight Committee will meet to review the draft ordinance that will be submitted to the Board of Selectmen for further action.

Last month the Committee chairman Dennis Hallahan presented the group's first draft to the BOS and to the Town Attorney for reaction and comment. Tonight the Committee will likely act on a revised draft which it will deliver to the BOS for action. 

The public meeting of the Committee will be at 7 p.m. tonight, Mon., July 6, in the Mulvey Municipal Center.
