North Guilford Nursery School Receives Grant for Imagination Playground

North Guilford Nursery School (NGNS), one of the longest-standing nursery schools in the Guilford community, has added a playground system called Imagination Playground. The project is supported by a grant from the Guilford Fund for Education. The Imagination Playground, a free-play, loose-parts set, supports early learners through active and creative play. The larger-than-life block system encourages the kind of free-form exploration that helps children develop cognitive, emotional, social, and physical skills. Through interactions with the Imagination Playground and their peers, students may learn teamwork, problem solving, creativity, and complex thinking.

NGNS plans on hosting “Block Parties” and other events in conjunction with the Guilford Public Schools and community to share the benefits from Imagination Playground. The NGNS teachers and students will use the blocks for creative exploration and education on an ongoing basis.
