Guilford Students Win Statewide Art Contest

Guilford students recently won a statewide art contest for the Great Connecticut Caper at the Guilford Free Library. The library congratulates the winners.

They are holding the winning picture they created together for Chapter 4 of the Great Connecticut Caper.

Every two weeks, a new chapter is released of this interactive statewide mystery, which details the disappearance of the Gillette Castle and the adventures of two best friends on a school trip who are trying to solve the case. Each of the 12 planned chapters is written and illustrated by a different author and illustrator who live in Connecticut, and presented by the Connecticut Humanities Council, along with fun activities and contests.

The library facilitates this project by hosting a Caper event for children aged 9 and older every two weeks, during which they read the new chapter, engage in discussions and activities related to the chapter, and work together to create writing or art for the statewide contest. The prize for winning the Chapter 4 art contest is a free art workshop with one of the illustrators of the Great Connecticut Caper. The Guilford Free Library will host this workshop for children, and Caper participants will have automatically reserved spots once details of the art workshop are announced.
