The Branford Rotary Club continues its Student of the Month (SOM) program at Branford High School (BHS) by recognizing high-achieving juniors and seniors who have made distinctive academic contributions.

Kendra Libby, the daughter of Keith and Meredith Libby, was nominated by her social studies teacher, Sharon Shirley. Libby is a sophomore at BHS and has received high honors each year since the 5th grade. She is a member of the Model United Nations and spring musical, and has received awards for achievements in geometry and biology. A friend of animals, she volunteers at a horse rescue in Northford and has adopted a rescue horse named Scarlett. Hoping to pursue a career in veterinary science, Libby is participating in Loop Abroad this summer, a rescue program in Thailand that focuses on tigers and elephants.

The Branford Rotary Club is in its 86th year of existence, having been charted on October 15, 1928. The Rotary Club of Branford is an organization of women and men representing a cross-section of local business and professional leaders, living and/or employed in Branford, who work as volunteers on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities. The Branford Rotary Club meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. at the Parthenon Diner, 374 East Main Street, Branford. Guests of members are welcome to attend luncheons, and membership inquiries are encouraged.
