05/12/2015 05:15 PMRaise the Roof will build part of its 11th Habitat for Humanity house on the Guilford Green on Saturday, May 16. Construction of walls will be ongoing throughout the day, with 90-minute shifts for volunteers. There will also be entertainment, including family activities, music, and food.
This year, Raise the Roof got a big helping hand from the local Rotary clubs as Branford, Guilford, and Madison Rotary clubs joined together to present Raise the Roof with a $15,000 donation for the home currently under construction on Sherman Parkway in New Haven.
There will also be several fundraising opportunities. Donors can purchase “house parts” that will be donated to a deserving family. There will also be a Message Wall on which, for a donation, people can write well wishes for the family on a piece of plywood that will be incorporated into the next home and become a part of the finish walls. Volunteers can also create their own fundraising pages.
