April 24 is Food Truck Appreciation Day in Madison

With the controversy over the location of food trucks in town leading some to view Madison as an exclusive community, Madison resident Rik Lammers set out to give fans of the trucks a chance to show support. His idea: Madison Food Truck Appreciation Day on Friday, April 24.

The event will feature five trucks—Taqueria Cinco, Taco Pacifico, High Tide Gourmet, Sugar Bakery Cupcake, and Meriano’s Cannoli—parked in front of the Academy School.

Lammers is hoping for a strong turnout at the event. A Facebook page set up to promote the event has close to 200 people confirmed to attend.

“This should provide tangible evidence of the majority of Madison residents’ being supportive of the food truck vendors,” said Lammers.

Hours for the trucks are as follows: Taqueria Cinco from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Taco Pacifico and High Tide Gourmet from noon to 7 p.m., Sugar Bakery Cupcake from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Meriano’s Cannoli from 3 to 7 p.m.
