Feds Investigating Clinton Plane Crash

Federal officials are beginning an investigation of the crash of a small plane that went down near a Connecticut home and left the New Jersey pilot with only minor injuries.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are expected to begin examining the crash site in the shoreline town of Clinton on Sunday.

Clinton police identified the pilot as 62-year-old Shirley Onacilla of Jersey City. Officials say she was treated for minor bruises and abrasions at a hospital and released. No one else was aboard.

Police say Onacilla was flying Saturday afternoon from Groton-New London Airport to Orange County, New York, when she reported engine trouble. Authorities say the plane crashed as Onacilla was trying to land at an airport in nearby Chester.
