Spend a Night at the Chester Fire House

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Chester Hose Company invites area children of kindergarten age and older for a "Kids Only Night Out" from 5 to 9 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 6 High Street. Kids should wear comfortable clothing and get ready for a night of fun, complete with a spaghetti dinner, dessert, a feature movie presentation of Monsters Inc. and several entertaining fire safety activities, such as obstacle courses, fire hose hook up stations, basic first aid relays, infrared light demonstrations, and a spooky "guess what's in the box" game.

"Last year we had to cancel this special night because it was planned in December and we had a snow storm, so this year we moved up the night to coincide with October being Fire Safety Awareness month. Plus, we are hoping that October weather will be more predictable," said Kim Tiezzi, medical coordinator for the Chester Hose Company.

"We wanted to have a night that allowed the parents in town to go out and enjoy themselves while the kids are also having fun. Being able to tie this event into Fire Safety Awareness month is perfect added bonus," said Tiezzi.

Dinner, which is being prepared by members of the Chester Hose Company as well as auxiliary members, will be served prior to start of all activities and cookies and hot cocoa will be available for children while they are enjoying the feature movie.

The cost of the evening event is $10 per child, or $20 per family. RSVP by Friday, Oct. 24 to confirm a space by calling Tiezzi at 860-227-4631.
