NB Town Center: Second Citizens' Charrette Nov. 1

In January 2014, more than 100 residents, including (shown here) Jeanne Groom, Theodore Groom, David Wakefield, and Susan Wakefield, took part in the first planning charrette to share ideas and options for the town's development of the former Wall Field, old Town Hall, and former Community Center in North Branford's center.

Seeking additional input from the townspeople concerning the development of the town property in North Branford on the Route 80 Corridor/1599 Foxon Road. the North Branford Economic Development Commission will hold a second Charrette on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 1 pm – 3 pm at the North Branford Intermediate School Cafeteria, 654 Foxon Road, North Branford.

The Charrette will include a presentation by consultants Alan Plattus and Andrei Harwell from the Yale Urban Design Workshop on the updated plans. Questions and answers will follow. This six acre property encompasses the previous Town Hall, the old Center School and Wall Field.

This Charrette will have the same format as the meeting last January when the EDC initially invited input from the Community concerning the development of this property. All the comments and suggestions were reviewed and those that were possible have been included in the updated design. The wish for “more green” and “an inviting entrance to town” were at the top of most lists.

The Economic Development Commission urges all residents, business owners and interested parties to join the discussion. This is a special opportunity to have your ideas heard and lend your support to the project. If you have any questions about the Charrette, please call the office of the Town Manager Michael Paulhus at
