Board of Education Budget Accepted

Once again it was a crowded room for the Monday night Board of Education meeting as anxious Guilford residents patiently awaiting the Board of Education’s vote on the proposed Superintendent’s budget, which included monies for a full day kindergarten program. The room erupted in applause as Chairman of the Board William Bloss announced that the budget was unanimously adopted.

With an increase of just 2.97 percent, which includes the $462,500 for full day kindergarten, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Freeman explained that even after the last public meeting, work had been done diligently crunching the numbers even more aggressively to trim the budget further.

Summing up the budget, Superintendent Freeman explained, “We continue to offer unparalleled educational value here in Guilford, and we continue to do well for our students in a changing environment which on alternating days I view as stressful or the most exciting time in my educational career. Our students perform exceptionally well for the investment we make in them.”
