Follow Branford's Greg Nobile to Broadway

Branford's Greg Nobile is enjoying a smash hit during his debut as a Broadway producer for the new musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. He said he's "over the moon" on news of Branford Rotary inviting friends and supporters of the club to join in a special bus trip from Branford to New York City to see a matinee of the show on Broadway on Saturday, Feb. 15.

Branford Rotary is following Branford's own Greg Nobile to Broadway, and friends and supporters of the club are welcome to join the February special trip.

Nobile, a Branford High School 2011 alumnus, has been making local headlines of late with his most recent professional accomplishment, as a producer of the smash-hit Broadway musical A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder-hailed as "The new undisputed King of Musical Comedy!" by Time Out New York.

"Making my Broadway producing debut with Gentleman's Guide has been a pure joy and the show has been delighting sold-out audience since we opened," said Nobile. "I'm sure you will love the show as much as I do-and the critics do! Time Out New York has said this show is 'the most fun you can have on Broadway right now' and Wall Street Journal has called us 'the best musical of the year'!"

Branford Rotary has been a big part of his life, Nobile added.

"I was over the moon when I received an email from [Rotary member] Alpha [Coiro] letting me know of the Rotary's intentions to trek to the Big Apple to see a Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder next month," said Nobile, adding, "Rotary has been a big part of my life, and it means so much to have you all interested in seeing the show."

The Rotary trip is set for Saturday, Feb. 15 and includes a motor coach into New York City with a stop in midtown prior to the 2 p.m. matinee at the Walter Kerr Theater. The cost of $132 per person includes bus travel and mezzanine ticket.

Now 21, Nobile has been in the news for many years in Branford. It all began at age six, when he started selling lemonade with friend Ryan Bloomquist to help raise money for another boyhood friend, Brian Kelley, following his diagnosis of adrenoleukodystropy (ADL). That effort lead Broadway-loving Nobile and Bloomquist to co-found The Lemonade Gang (back when the two were Walsh Intermediate School students). Based out of the Owenego Club, the gang raised money with annual summertime Broadway-style reviews, supporting ADL-based Myelin Project and helping to fight other childhood diseases. At age 17, Nobile was spotlighted as The Sound's Person of the Week for forming his first professional entertainment production company, which brought in big-name comedy acts to perform locally.

In addition to his current Broadway producer's hat, Nobile is also interim managing director for non-profit Legacy Theatre of Stony Creek and is already working on yet another highly anticipated musical, Witness Uganda, for which he is a creative associate.

The world premiere of Witness Uganda will take place at the American Repertory Theatre at Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and unfortunately Nobile will be out of town working on the project when the Branford Rotary trip arrives to take in Gentleman's Guide in NYC. But he wants to express his heartfelt thanks for the support being given to his show.

Nobile said he also thanks Branford Rotary for "doing the work you do in our community to make Branford a town that teaches kids to reach for the stars and live their dreams."
