Madar Celebrating 108th Birthday

As East Haven’s Joseph Madar prepares to celebrate his 108th birthday at Apple Rehab’s North High Street facility (formerly Laurel Woods) in East Haven, he was presented a Proclamation from the Mayor’s office (see below).

Whereas, Mr. Joseph Madar was born in Hungry on August 26, 1905 and this year he will turn 108 years old; and

Whereas, Joe is a soft spoken, modest, gentle man. He arrived in the United States in 1959 and owned a successful automobile business in New Haven until his retirement; and

Whereas, to this day Joe keeps himself busy with his computer, stays current on world events through daily newspapers, enjoys an occasional MacDonald’s burger and fries for lunch, and up until last year drove himself around town in his 1983 Buick; and

Whereas, Today friends and residents gather at Apple Rehab Laurel Woods to celebrate and honor Joseph Madar with love and admiration for all he has taught us about the true meaning of the human spirit.

Now, therefore, I, Joseph Maturo, Jr., Mayor of the Town of East Haven proclaim Aug. 26, 2013 as “Joseph Madar Day” and ask the citizens of the Town to join in celebrating his 108th Birthday and wish him good health.
