Guilford Annual Budget Meeting


The Annual Budget Meeting will be held tonight, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Guilford Community Center.

The Board of Education’s (BOE) budget totals $54,491,186, which is a percent increase of 2.98, or $1,577,294 over the current year. The town’s proposed budget is $30,878,098, which is a 1.96 percent increase, or $594,681 over the current year.

If the budget passes, the mill rate in town would increase from 22.36 to 23.06 and there would be a 3.12 percent tax increase in Guilford.

Bonding questions include requests from the BOE totaling $1,623,677 for several projects including replacement of windows and doors at Cox, security upgrades at the schools, and other health and safety projects.

The approved $5,991,000 town’s bonding request, which covers years 2014 and 2015 of the Five-Year Capital Plan, includes road elevation projects, upgrades to town property, and equipment purchases.
