New Tool to Search Septic Pump-out Histories

Most homeowners know that to avoid the high costs of septic system replacement, they need to keep to a regular schedule of septic tank pump-outs. Most tanks should be pumped out at least as often as every three to five years to keep the septic systems operating properly.

But who remembers exactly when they last contracted for a pump-out? Now Westbrook’s homeowners will have an easy way to find out by entering their address into the town’s new on-line search tool.

Homeowners who want to review their parcel’s pump-out history can go to the town’ website—http://westbrookct.us/index.php—and then click on the heading “Septic Pump-Out Search.” This takes the user to a screen where they choose from a pull-down menu first their State (Connecticut) and then their town (Westbrook). On the next screen, they would select “search” to navigate to the screen that allows entry of specific parcel information to retrieve the septic tank pump-out history.

The database program the town’s Water Pollution Control Commission uses to track these histories is made by Carmody.
