Kidnapped Woman's Texts Lead to Man's Arrest

A Connecticut man is due in court on charges he kidnapped a woman whose text messages to her boyfriend helped lead police to her rescue.

Forty-three-year-old Albert Leclaire of East Haven is set to be arraigned Monday in New Haven Superior Court on charges including kidnapping, robbery and attempted sexual assault. He's being detained on bail.

Police say Leclaire forced his way into the Wallingford's woman's car early Sunday morning in New Haven, forced her to take cash out of ATMs and used the money to buy drugs.

Police say the woman texted her boyfriend for help at about 6 a.m. and kept updating him on her location. The boyfriend found her car at about 7 a.m. and told police the location.

It's not clear if Leclaire has a lawyer.
