A Connecticut Author Showcase


Authors from the local area and beyond will talk with patrons and sell and sign copies of their books at the Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street, East Haven, on Saturday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Featured authors will include Christine Polanco, author of a non-fiction religious memoir called Walking in God’s Divine Order; Albert Ruggiero, who will showcase his wife Carol Ruggiero’s book, Pearls from Carol; Mathew Duman, author of An Education in the Grotesque: The Gargoyles of Yale University and The Grotesque 10: Amazing Architectural Sculpture from Ten American Colleges & Universities; and Christopher Hemingway, library staff member and author of The Day the Bull Lived: And Other Poems. Award-winning author Jason Marchi will also be present. He is the author of the newly published Automobilia, Ode on a Martian Urn, The Legend of Hobbomock: The Sleeping Giant (Children’s book), Venus Remembered, The Island People, The Growing Sweater (Children’s book), and The Man in the Black Frock Coat.

Other authors include Charles Harvey, author of i; Colin Caplan, author of Pizza in New Haven, among five other books on New Haven history; Elisabeth Breslav, author of Five Years Under Nazi Occupation, A World War II Memoir of Resilience, and Survival in the Netherlands (Elisabeth will meet with patrons downstairs in the library’s DeMayo room from 1 to 3 p.m.), George Gdovin, author of the newly published Memories, Memoirs & Miracles; Marty Podskoch, author of Connecticut 169 Club: Your Passport & Guide to Exploring Connecticut along with many others; Janet Stadolnik, author of the young adult novel The Secret of Duncan’s Castle; Tony Renzoni, author of Connecticut Bootlegger Queen Nellie Green, Historic Connecticut Music Venues along with many others; and Charles McNair, author of Soldiers of a Foreign War and In a Dark Wood: A Novel of the Civil War.

Authors will be selling copies of their books. Those attending should bring several methods of payment as each author will accept different methods of payment. This event is free and open to all. No registration is required.

Extra parking for evening and weekend library events is available in the East Haven Town Hall parking lot on 250 Main Street (across the street from the library), in the KeyBank parking lot next to the library (after noon on Saturdays and after 5 p.m. on weekdays) and in the Stop and Shop lot behind the library, accessible from Messina Drive.
