Cole’s Farm Report: Watch Out For Frost

The days are warming up, but the farmers at Cole’s Farm and Greenhouse in Madison wanted to issue a reminder that we are still able to have frost.

Generally speaking they recommend waiting until the full moon in May, and check the temperatures for the next 10 days before putting plants outside. They note Friday, May 5 is the full moon this year. Mother's Day is Sunday, May 14 and tomato plants, hanging baskets, and patio pots should be able to go outside at that point.

The greenhouse has lettuce plants and some herbs that can be planted outside. Cole’s also report that the first planting of corn and the peas have germinated. Cole’s Farm and Greenhouse, located at 346 Horse Pond Road, Madison is operated by the Coles, the Kunsas, and the Cudgmas. For more information, call 203-245-2943.
