In her mid-20s, Michelle Zauner moved back to her childhood home in Oregon to care for her mother. After her mother’s death, Zauner wrote the songs that would become her band Japanese Breakfast’s breakout album, Psychopomp. In this frank, tender, and surprisingly funny memoir, Zauner chronicles a mother and daughter moving apart and then brought together by their Korean heritage and, particularly, food.
